House Insulation
Insulate the ceiling first:
25% of heat loss occurs through the ceiling. Happily, it’s also one of the easiest places to insulate in an existing home.
If your home is more than 10 years old:
Consider upgrading the ceiling insulation as the original insulation will have compressed over time.
Install the highest R-Value you can afford:
If your'e building, think about increasing the size of your wall cavity from 90mm to 150mm and installing a higher R-Value wall insulation – you’ll save money on heating in the long run.
Home insulation is the single biggest factor in preventing money and heat loss

Insulation is essential for an energy-efficient house. It keeps the heat in during winter and the house cool in the summer – so you don’t waste unnecessary money on heating and cooling.
When installed properly, home insulation can cut your home heating bills by up to 49% (depending on your type of home and location).
Right House can specify and install 5 kinds of house insulation:
- Fibreglass insulation
- Wool insulation
- Polystyrene insulation
- Concrete slab insulation
- Hot water cylinder wrap
Before specifying a solution, we look at your home’s aspect, design and your budget to work out how you can get the best results from the money you spend.
We then supply and install the insulation and use a thermal imaging camera to check for gaps (a 2% gap in insulation can cause a 20% heat loss).
