Rachel Mote
Rachel Mote is happy to see the back of the gas fire that she and her husband Norman had used to heat their lounge for five years.
"Norman and I didn't know anything about heat pumps at all. So we started reading the information the men from Right House brought around."
Right House technicians installed Pink Batts insulation into the Mote's ceiling, put heat lamps into their bathroom, double glazed the windows on the seaward side of the house and wrapped their hot water cylinder with insulation.
While it all creates a new energy efficient environment, Mrs Mote is adamant her heat pump is the best thing Right House could have done for her.
"The heat pump is wonderful. I just push a single button. In the mornings it doesn't take very long to take the chill off " it is very efficient."
Sadly Norman died shortly after learning of the Right House makeover.
Mrs Mote knows it would have been a point of pride as much as a practical comfortable living solution for her husband.
"We didn't tell our friends about it, we thought we'd just wait until they got their power bills. If Norman was here he'd be delighted."
At 81, cutting her monthly power bill by up to $40 is as much stress relief as it is a cost saving, Mrs Mote says.
"It is a load off my mind, especially now I am on the one income."
Not having to pay extra charges for gas supply on top of the electricity bill is also a benefit, but the peace of mind her new heat pump provides is worth a few extra winks of sleep.
"I never liked gas, I was terrified of it. Now Norman is not here I would have had to do something about it anyway, I would not have used the gas fire."
As convinced as she is of her new heat pump, Mrs Mote's son and daughter-in-law have recently started building their own home and consulted Right House to look at their heating solutions as well.
Mrs Mote says losing her husband meant the energy efficiency revamp of her home came at a very difficult time, but the Right House contractors made it easy.
"They came and looked at the parts of the house where things would be most beneficial. Now the house is really just wonderful, it could not have been better. And the staff down there, I cannot speak highly enough of them. It was a pleasure."
